My first wedding of 2009!
Alina + Greg were married yesterday, in a beautiful ceremony at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Miramar, Florida, and their reception was held in a family friend’s back yard in Pembroke Pines. The words “back yard” do not do it justice at all! The wedding and reception were beautiful.
For a little history, Alina and I were best friends all through elementary school, and our families have remained close throughout the last 20 years. There was much discussion on whether I’d be shooting this wedding, or just a guest. I’m so glad I got to shoot it
.
BIG congratulations and lots of love to Alina and Greg, and to the Tamburi and Steinmiller families! It was wonderful meeting, and spending the evening with all of you!
Enjoy the preview!
Getting ready to go:

The Ceremony:

“You May Kiss The Bride”

The Reception:

I love this picture, mostly because of what Adriana is doing in the background : )

Alina + Greg have been together since high school, and Jason, the best man, brought out the blackmail photos!

The cake cutting started out friendly…

But ended badly… : D

and just one picture of one of my favorite kids, Jayden:

This is my gorgeous cousin, Isury, and some quick maternity photos I took of her at our cousin’s baby shower.

Camelia and Carlos were married yesterday, and their wedding was every bit as beautiful as I knew it would be. It was impossibly difficult to pick a few of my favorite shots, but I’ll try : )

AND- One of my new “Favorite Ever” pics… I have always wanted to take this picture, with the cake in focus with the couple dancing in the background, but I wanted it to happen naturally (I don’t like posing or ‘arranging’ situations), and when they started dancing while the cake was being brought out, I realized this was my chance. I took 3 or 4 shots, and this was “The One”:
Since I know some of my photographer friends also keep up with this blog, I thought it would be a good place to also share tips on Churches, venues, great photo spots I bump into, etc….
I have a wedding on September 6th which will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. (901 Northeast 2nd Street Fort Lauderdale).
I have received a photographer’s instruction sheet to sign, and wanted to share the rules in case any of you will be shooting a wedding there any time soon.
Rules:
1. Photos can only be taken before ceremony, during the procession of the Bridal Party and Bride, during the exchange of vows, and as they leave the church. One half hour (30 minutes) is allotted for photos after the wedding.
2. Flash cannot be used during the liturgy.
3. The steps going up to the altar and the altar area are strictly forbidden territory.
4. Photographers will stay on one side of the front pew. You must not be walking from side to side in the sanctuary. This is distracting.
5. You must handle all photography in a professional manner.
6. Your movements must be discreet as to not distract from the sacredness of the liturgy. Remember, this is not just a ceremony it is a sacrament.
So, there you have it. In my opinion, if a church has rules, we need to follow them to the letter.
I know I always want to get that beautiful amazing shot, but it is not worth possibly ruining your couple’s day by having the priest complain to them about you, or having your professionalism questioned just because you want to get “the shot”.
Carlos and Camelia will be married on September 6th. They met in Puerto Rico while working together, and 5 years later, here they are tying the knot! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding, Camelia is so pretty she glows, and they are so in love, I know the wedding is going to be AMAZING!
Here are a few of my favorites from our engagement shoot in Ft. Lauderdale:
I love how natural they were in this one… : ) Almost like they forgot I was there!
This has nothing to do with photography… Enjoy : )
The power is out at my house right now due to this crazzzy Florida weather but today’s engagement session with C & C went wonderfully. Can’t wait to post the photos! As soon as the power comes back. LOL
So, clearly, from my blank post just under Mikey and Angie, the beautiful slideshow I created from my Key Largo vacation did NOT post. Apparently wordpress, among others, does not like embedded flash, understandably, for security reasons.
So, I decided to post these bad boys one by one.. Enjoy
I know this is so illegal… But how cute is Jayden?! Feeding the manatees

Have I mentioned I LOVE DETAILS?! (if you’re a reader, you have heard that more than a few times!):
Hope you felt like you were there!
