Never Enough Equipment!

14 05 2008

I suspect photography is much like any other hobby, you can never have enough equipment! I used to bowl in leagues, and when I started, I’d see people come in with what looked like rolling luggage with 8-10 bowling balls inside along with a host of other “stuff”. I couldn’t figure out what on earth they needed so many balls for (insert giggle here), until I started getting more serious about the bowling myself, and realized that you needed all that stuff to be prepared for any situation. The same thing went for the Salsa Dancing when I was doing that.

Now, with photography, I realize it’s the same with any hobby/profession. The deeper you get involved with it, the more things you realize are out there that will make your life just a LITTLE easier. The more lenses I buy, the more I realize I want (more artistic freedom!). I’m done with cameras for a while, but not even CLOSE to being done with accessories! : ) There are so many things out there that I want to buy, from computer software, to backup systems, to flash units, that I feel like I need another $10,000 just to have everything I want. And after that, I will probably need another 10 to get MORE stuff.

So when you see your photographer, or ANYONE else walking around with a huge suitcase full of equipment, don’t laugh… because they really DO need it!

p.s. I’ve asked everyone I know, for any holidays and birthdays that come up, which require present buying, to get me amazon.com gift certificates. I LOVE amazon, and my wishlist is a MILE long :).
